Many wonders there be, but naught more wondrous than man :)
I had no idea that tentacle rape had such a long tradition... I somehow assumed it was a strange fictional device utilized to get around censors or something. I can't believe it's been around longer than Japanimation. How very, very odd.
Another proof of the educational value of the internet :)
The way I see it, people are just weird. Different cultures or periods simply happen to be weird in different ways. The main contribution of our modern age is in making the distribution of weird ideas easier.
I learned early on not to underestimate the ability of people from the past to come up with bizarre ideas, when I read in the Epic of Gilgamesh how the goddess Ishtar assembled the priestesses and the harlots and started an elegy for a bull's penis that had been torn off by Enkidu... :)
